Workshop Schedules

Subject to adjustments based on number of attendees. If actors are concerned about a schedule conflict that will require them to briefly leave the workshop, please contact us. We will be happy to accommodate your needs as best we can.

Day 1
Session from 10 am to 4:30pm (Actors are welcome to stay till 6:30pm. See below)
9:30 am - Registration
10:00 am - Introductions
11:30 am - Scene distributions (The majority of scenes are actual television scripts written by Laurence Andries unless otherwise noted)
12:00 pm - Lunch
12:30 pm to 4:30 pm - Mock Auditions: For the remainder of day 1 actors will be performing mock auditions (in front of the class) for Laurence, Doug and Craig. Feedback will be given to each actor and adjustments will be made. This process will be repeated until the end of day. Each actor will be provided the opportunity to audition multiple times for Laurence, Doug and Craig.
4:30 pm to 6:30 pm - Optional Q & A with the Panelists: Actors are welcome to stay or head home. Laurence, Doug, Craig and Tim will happily answer any questions actors are interested in discussing.

Day 2
Doors open at 9:30 am; session from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

  • Competition begins:
    • Actors will face a day of mock auditioning, run just as it would be for the lead role in a network television series or feature film. Auditions will include pre-reads, call backs, producer session, and casting. All actors will watch the other actors audition. The student selected for the "role" will have their workshop payment fully reimbursed and will attend the workshop for free.

1:30 pm - Competition Continued
2:30 pm - Winner decided – discussion on why he or she won.
3:00 pm - Workshop ends

10:45 am - Decoding superstardom:What do your favorite stars do that YOU can do too? We’ll discover the common traits shared by all young stars, and learn how to find them in yourself.

11:30 am - Build your fan club — now! Why wait till you’re famous to build a fan club. Start doing it now and your supporters will help you reach the top.

12:00 pm - Lunch

12:30 pm - Why you SHOULD make mistakes (and how to make them work for you). We’ll discover how mistakes have advanced many stars’ careers — and then you’ll practice making some star-studded mistakes of your own and twisting them to your advantage.

2:00 pm - Using pain from the past to create a powerful future.We all have bad things happen to us. When you’re a performer, those unfortunate moments can actually fuel your greatest performances. You’ll learn how the stars do it, and then try it yourself.

3:30 pm - Creating your own luck. Everybody talks about getting your “big break” … But making it in Hollywood requires you to create your OWN luck too. You find out and start doing it here!

4:30 pm - Regular workshop ends

4:30 pm - Bonus session! Join us for an optional Q&A session with producer Laurence Andries, actors Doug DeBeech and Craig Scime, and journalist Tim O’Shei at the end of the day, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (This Q&A session will include students from both the youth and adult workshops.)

10:00 am - Popularity versus friendship Becoming famous is a great way to be popular, but it’s sometimes a terrible way to make friends. What’s the difference? We’ll find out, and we’ll also discover how the smartest stars keep the friends worth having.

11:00 am - Gossipy secrets! Get the scoop on how Hollywood’s gossip industry REALLY works. We’ll learn how stars handle the whispers and rumors – and how to handle them when people are talking about YOU.

12:00 pm - Turn the pressure into fun! How do the best performers take high-stakes situations like auditions and turn them into play time? You’ll find out, and learn how to do it too!

1:00 pm - Lunch

1:30 pm - Celebrity bucks. You’ll learn the truth about Hollywood money – and find out why many of your favorite stars aren’t rich at all. We’ll also show you how people DO become rich in show biz.

2:30 pm - Fame for you. We’ll show you a new definition of “fame” – one that allows you to CHOOSE to become famous!

3:00 pm - Workshop ends
