About Live Starring… You!

Countless kids dream of becoming stars. But very few of them know exactly what it takes to make it to Broadway or Hollywood — or how to survive once you’re there. Celebrity journalist and teacher Tim O’Shei spent five years studying how the best performers make it to the top — and how the best ones thrive in the spotlight.

He revealed the answers in his book, Live! Starring… You!, and now he’s teaching kids how to apply the “6.5 Steps to the Stars” and “7 Secrets of Celebrity Success” to their own lives. If you’re a kid – or have a kid – who dreams big and loves a challenge, take Tim’s either or both of Tim’s Live! Starring … You! classes. You’ll work with Tim – and also with Hollywood producer Laurence Andries and actors Craig Scime and Doug DeBeech – to learn how to chase after your dreams and be a star in your own life … and maybe beyond!

Day 1 (Saturday) - “The 6.5 Steps to the Stars”

Fee: $150

Registration at 9:30 am
Session from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, with an optional Q&A session from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm

How do top performers make it in Hollywood or on Broadway? They follow “The 6.5 Steps to the Stars.” Spend a fun, high-energy day learning these steps and getting started on your own starry career. Here are some of the things you’ll discover through the 6.5 Steps:

  • Successful young stars have three common traits. Find out what they are, and how to develop them in yourself.
  • People may not be asking for your autograph (yet!), but you can – and should – have a “fan club.” Learn why, and how to get it started.
  • Making mistakes is usually better than being perfect. Discover how to make mistakes work for you.
  • Painful moments from your past can help you as a performer. Learn how to use your struggles to create powerful performances and get you ready for the tough world of Hollywood
  • Luck doesn’t happen simply by chance. You can create your own luck. Find out how!
Day 2 (Sunday) - “The 7 Secrets of Celebrity Success”

Session runs from 10 am to 3 pm

How does it really feel to be a celebrity? The only way to know for sure is to be one. But the next best thing is taking this class. You’ll spend the day facing real-life celebrity scenarios and discovering the truth behind fame. By day’s end, you’ll know what it’s like to be a person in the spotlight. If someday you’re a celebrity for real, you’ll be more ready to handle the attention and do good things with your fame.

Performers in this workshop will:
  • Find out why getting famous is a quick way to lose friends — and learn how the best celebrities are able to keep the friends worth having.
  • Get the scoop on how Hollywood’s gossip industry really works.
  • Discover how the best performers take high-pressure situations (like auditions) and make them fun.
  • Uncover the truth behind Hollywood money — and learn why many of your favorite stars aren’t rich at all.
  • Learn a new definition of “fame” — one that allows you to choose to be famous! Plus, you’ll be introduced to the “8 Ways to Become Famous Today” — and get started!
